Bags three awards at CII’s ‘9th National Award for Excellence in Water Management’ for ground-breaking work in Rajasthan

Jaipur: Ambuja Cement’s stellar work in drought-prone Rajasthan was duly awarded and recognised across the country when it bagged three awards at 9th National Award for National Excellence in Water Management in the pink city of Jaipur yesterday.
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, Ambuja’s two plants in Rajasthan – Rabriyawas and Marwar Mundwa -- raced past its contenders to bag the top slots. Principal Secretary (PHED & Water Resource) Purshottam Agarwal gave away the awards at a glittering ceremony that was attended by other industry leaders in water management.
Congratulating the entire team that has been relentlessly working since the past eight years, ACL’s exhilarated CEO Ajay Kapursaid, “This is a matter or immense pride for Ambuja to bag these awards, and thus setting fresh benchmarks in water management not just in the arid region of Rajasthan but also across the country.”
Presentations by top performers in Water Management were made over the two days (6-7 Dec) where top water efficient industrial units from India were short-listed based on a questionnaire survey and selected by an expert panel of judges.
When Ambuja bagged the top position under the category -- Excellence in Water Management: "Within the Fence" for its initiatives within the facility/ industry, President (unit head), Rabriyawas, Vallabh V Tank, gave credit where it was due. “This is team work at its best. Unrelenting passion to consistently benchmark against ourselves has undoubtedly won us this award,” he said. The other equally prestigious award was for the Marwar-Mundwa site in Excellence in Water Management "Beyond the Fence" that showcased an innovative leadership role in implementing water and watershed management projects with the involvement of public/ private agencies and the community. Marwar Mundwa: “Our ground-breaking work fanned across this area ensured we would comfortably race past the 48 other contenders.” In addition, this presentation bagged second place as the “Most Useful Presentation.”For Ambuja, it has been raining awards – only recently it won the Best Brand award by Zee Business (Nov 2012) and earlier in Sept 2012, two National Awards for Safety (Rabriyawas unit) and the FICCI Gold (Maratha Cement Works), also for Safety.
